The Gyeongnam delegation, which is visiting the Czech Republic and Poland, held an export business agreement signing ceremony between defense small and medium-sized enterprises in the province and overseas buyers at the International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO 2024) and supported the overseas expansion of Gyeongnam defense companies.
Five small and medium-sized enterprises in the province, including Metis Co., Ltd., Aeromaster Co., Ltd., Kyungdo Co., Ltd., YoungPoong Electronics Co., Ltd., and Woori HQ Co., Ltd., signed export business agreements, including technology transfer and local joint production, with six defense industry companies from Poland, Turkiye, and Germany. It is expected that exports will amount to $38 million (approximately 50 billion won) in the future.
In addition, Gyeongnam Technopark decided to make mutual efforts for technology exchange with Poland's WB Electronics.
As part of the overseas marketing support project for small and medium-sized enterprises, Gyeongnam-do is the only local government to operate a public relations center (Gyeongnam Hall) at MSPO. During the MSPO period (September 3 to September 6), products from eight small and medium-sized companies in the province are displayed and activities are held to expand exports and support marketing.
Governor Park Wan-soo said, “Gyeongnam is the center of the K-defense industry, where all defense industry companies in the land, sea, and air fields, such as Hanwha Aerospace and KAI, are located, and both large and small companies are working to expand togetheroverseas markets.” He added, “Here in Poland, I felt once again that defense companies in the province are leading the K-defense industry craze in overseas markets by having all production capabilities, from conventional weapons to cutting-edge weapon systems,” he said.
He continued, “With this export agreement as a stepping stone, we hope that local defense companies and European defense companies will become partners for the development of the defense industry and maintain a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship.” He emphasized, “We will spare no effort in providing administrative support, including cutting-edge technology research and development and export support, so that K-Defense can expand into one of the world’s top four defense industry powers.”
At the export business agreement ceremony held at the Gyeongnam Pavilion on this day, Governor Park Wan-soo, Gyeongsangnam-do Chamber of Commerce Chairman Choi Jae-ho, Geoje Mayor Park Jong-woo, and Masan Free Trade Zone Business Association Chairman Park Jeong-woo attended.
