[Gyeongnam=NewsFreeZone]Reporter Choi Geun-nae= Changwon Special City held a 'Visiting Defense Company On-site Clinic' at YoungPoong Electronics' Changwon plant on the 22nd.

Since 1986, YoungPoong Electronics has been committed to the defense industry in Changwon for over 35 years, establishing itself as a prominent defense SME that has contributed to the development of K-Defense by providing essential equipment to the military's main weapon systems.

The company was selected as a defense innovation company in the field of drones for its technology and R&D expertise in the 100-Defense Innovation Company project led by the DAPA in 2022.

The 100-Defense Innovation Company is a DAPA-supported project that offers comprehensive assistance to excellent small and medium-sized venture companies in the defense high-tech strategic sectors (AI, manned/unmanned systems, robotics, and semiconductors).

Since last year, the government has been undertaking a program to select and foster a total of 100 companies from now until 2026. In 2022, the program saw its first round of success with the selection of 18 innovative defense companies.

In collaboration with various defense industry support organizations, including Changwon City Hall, DAPA One-Stop Support Center, Defense Innovation Cluster Project Group, and Changwon Industrial Promotion Agency, the 'Defense Company On-Site Clinic' is held twice a month to address the challenges faced by companies.

Lim Chae-jin, Head of the Strategic Industry Division, explained, “Due to the many defense support organizations scattered around Changwon, it can be challenging for companies to visit each one for consultation. Our plan is to simplify this process by coordinating these organizations through on-site visits, making it easier for companies to access their support policies.”
